Fall Camp Begins at Edberg Olson Hall
Temple University’s football program kicked off a four‑week fall training camp on August 5 at Edberg Olson Hall, marking the first step toward the 2026 season. Under head coach K.C. Keeler, the Owls practice six days a week, with media access limited to Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, as the squad drills under a regimen of discipline and culture.
The opening day saw quarterback Jaxon Smolik connect with wide receiver Colin Chase on a 15‑yard pass, while defensive standout Quante Gillians and JaMair Diaz combined for a pick‑six that highlighted the defense’s playmaking.
Week Two Highlights
A second day of camp brought sweltering heat, yet the offense surged, capped by a 40‑yard gain from Zander Baptiste, and Cameron Jones recorded a sack that underscored the defensive line’s intensity. On the third day, Keveun Mason displayed his receiving prowess, and transfer Sam Brown V navigated opposing defenses with poise, while the defensive line, featuring Kevin Hornbeak and Troy Cunningham, continued to disrupt opposing schemes.
Media availability in week two gave voice to Smolik and Ajani Sheppard, who linked up with tight end Peter Clarke for a 20‑yard gain, while Cunningham rushed the passer in a key moment that further stressed the offense. Full‑pad practice on August 11, attended by President John Fry, provided a vivid snapshot of the team’s progress, as cornerbacks Denzel Chavis and Adrian Laing intercepted passes to halt potential gains.
Throughout the grueling stretch, the Owls have embraced the challenge of extreme conditions, using each rep to build the stamina and cohesion needed for a competitive campaign.
