Tennessee Baseball Lands Transfer Pitcher Brody Trosclair

The Southland Conference Freshman of the Year adds depth to a pitching staff undergoing a major overhaul

A Strategic Addition to the Rotation

On June 8, the University of Tennessee announced the verbal commitment of Brody Trosclair, a right‑handed pitcher who spent his freshman season at Northwestern State. The announcement came after a campus visit on June 7 and was shared by the player on his personal social media channels, where he expressed excitement about joining the Volunteers.

Trosclair arrives in Knoxville with a freshmen season that earned him Southland Conference Freshman of the Year honors and a place on the all‑conference first team. In ten appearances he posted a 5‑1 record, a 1.89 ERA and 55 strikeouts against just 11 walks over 38 innings before an arm injury curtailed his campaign in early April.

His addition comes as the Volunteers reshape a pitching staff that lost starter Tegan Kuhns to the MLB draft and saw veteran Evan Blanco exhaust his eligibility. New pitching coach Austin Knight, hired from East Carolina, will oversee a unit that also welcomes another transfer, two‑way standout Braydon Kersey from Mercer, who committed on June 6.

The staff will also integrate relievers Taylor Tracey and Brayden Krenzel, both of whom entered the transfer portal, and freshman Ari Bethea, who likewise left the program. With these moves, Tennessee aims to replenish depth and maintain competitiveness in a landscape where the SEC continues to raise its pitching standards.
