The University of Tennessee’s baseball program has been busy in the transfer portal, with a total of 18 players filing paperwork to explore new opportunities.
Among the departures, sophomore shortstop Manny Marin stood out with a .291/.338/.485 slash line, while right‑hander Nic Abraham posted a 4.15 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 34.2 innings.
Departure Highlights
The Vols also said goodbye to Brayden Krenzel, whose 9.35 ERA in 17.1 innings was a stark contrast to earlier expectations, and to Chris Newstrom, who showed flashes of promise only in a non‑conference weekend. Pitcher Evan Hankins’ season ended before it began after tearing his ACL in warmups against Vanderbilt, and Ethan Moore, a redshirt freshman, moved on to continue his career at Missouri.
Other notable exits include Ariel Antigua, a defensive standout who hit just .199 over three seasons, and the versatile glue player Hunter High, who left after three years as a team‑building presence.
New Faces on the Roster
Despite the losses, Tennessee has bolstered its squad with incoming talent. Left‑hander Taylor Tracey arrives with a lanky frame that scouts view as high upside, while Jax Bishop and Cash Williams bring experience from programs such as Oklahoma and Indiana.
Additional transfers include Ari Bethea, Hutson Chance, and Finley Bates, who join a group that also features returning players like Sawyer Deering, DJ McDowell, and Nate Eisfelder, all of whom are expected to fill the void left by the departed stars.
The coaching staff is optimistic that the blend of seasoned returnees and fresh portal additions will keep the Vols competitive in the SEC, even as they navigate the ever‑changing landscape of college baseball.
