Tennessee has extended a scholarship to Nicholas Carroll, a 5‑foot‑10, 170‑pound defensive back from Toombs County High School in Lyons, Georgia, for the 2028 football signing class.
A Promising Defensive Back
Carroll is currently ranked No. 47 overall in the 2028 class and the fourth‑best safety nationwide by 247Sports, a rating that has drawn interest from several power‑conference programs.
Georgia Tech was the first school to offer him on September 18, 2025, and he has since added scholarships from Florida State, Kentucky, North Carolina State and other notable programs.
Although the Volunteers have not yet secured a commitment in the 2028 cycle, they already hold 13 pledges for the 2027 class, including linebacker JP Peace and quarterback Derrick Baker.
The early offers reflect a strategic focus on building depth at the safety position, a unit that could become a cornerstone of the defense in the coming years.
