A streak continues
The latest All‑SEC selections underscore the Volunteers’ consistent presence in the conference’s elite circle, marking the seventh straight year that at least one player has earned recognition.
Tegan Kuhns, a right‑handed pitcher, earned Second‑Team All‑SEC honors after posting a 3.39 ERA across 14 appearances, including 13 weekend starts. He threw 77 innings, struck out 100 batters, and maintained a 1.18 WHIP, while also ranking high in strikeout‑to‑walk ratio.
Trent Grindlinger, a versatile corner infielder, was placed on the All‑Freshman Team after leading the Vols with a .339 batting average, a .619 slugging percentage, and a 1.053 OPS. He drove in 28 runs and hit eight home runs while appearing in 39 games, 32 of them as starts.
Freshman impact
Cam Appenzeller, another freshman, contributed a 5‑1 record and a save while striking out 54 relief pitchers, the most among Tennessee’s bullpen arms. Three of his five wins came against SEC opponents, highlighting his effectiveness in conference play.
Together, the three players illustrate the depth of talent the Volunteers have cultivated over the past several seasons, reinforcing the program’s reputation as a consistent producer of SEC standouts.
Looking ahead
With the foundation laid by these honorees, the Vols enter the next campaign poised to build on their recent successes, aiming to extend their streak of SEC representation and contend for further accolades.
