Tennessee’s football program is set to face one of the most demanding schedules in the country for the 2026 season. ESPN’s Football Power Index currently lists the Vols at 16th nationally and eighth within the SEC, but the difficulty of their slate suggests a tough road ahead.
A Schedule That Tests the Vols
The upcoming slate features a string of high‑profile opponents, including a road trip to Arkansas and home games against Alabama and Kentucky. Texas, Alabama and Georgia headline the non‑conference portion, while the SEC also brings matchups with Oklahoma, Ole Miss and a road contest at South Carolina.
Georgia Tech, slated as the premier out‑of‑conference opponent, carries a 32nd‑ranked strength of schedule, underscoring the Vols’ need to adapt quickly. The full schedule also includes games against Furman, Kennesaw State, Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU and Vanderbilt, rounding out a demanding lineup.
Veteran linebacker DeSean Bishop has voiced the team’s resolve, noting that the schedule will test depth and force the coaching staff to innovate.
