A New Frontcourt Piece
At 6‑foot‑9 and 225 pounds, Terry Copeland arrives in South Orange with a reputation that stretches beyond his physical presence. After three seasons at Bergen Catholic, where he earned All‑North Jersey honors, Copeland spent a year at Howard College in Texas before emerging as the national JUCO player of the year for the 2025‑26 campaign.
During that season he averaged 19.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, helping his team to a 33‑4 record and cementing his status as one of the most dominant junior‑college big men in the country.
Coach Holloway's Long‑Term Pursuit
Seton Hall’s coaching staff, led by Shaheen Holloway, had been tracking Copeland’s progress since his high school days, and the Pirates seized the opportunity to bring him in as a key piece for the upcoming 2026‑27 roster.
Holloway emphasized that Copeland will complement existing frontcourt talent, providing depth alongside Devin Williams and stepping in front of Abdulai Fanta Kabba, while also adding versatility to the team’s interior game.
Strategic Fit
The addition of Copeland not only fills a size deficit but also injects a proven scorer who can stretch the floor and protect the rim, positioning Seton Hall to experiment with multiple lineups and increase its defensive versatility.
With 13 scholarship players already secured and the possibility of one more addition, the Pirates are shaping a competitive lineup that aims to contend in the Big East and beyond.
As the new season approaches, the Pirates’ fan base anticipates how Copeland’s skill set will mesh with returning veterans and fresh recruits, hoping the move will translate into a deeper run in conference play.
