SEC schedule unveiled for the Aggies
Texas A&M’s men’s basketball program has released its full SEC schedule for the 2026‑27 campaign, a slate that blends familiar rivalries with fresh challenges.
The Aggies will host LSU, Texas and Vanderbilt in designated mirror games, while also welcoming Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Georgia to Reed Arena. On the road, they are slated to visit Florida, Missouri, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and South Carolina.
A season of growth under Bucky McMillan
Last season the Aggies finished sixth in the SEC with an 11‑7 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament under head coach Bucky McMillan, who guided the team to a high‑paced, exciting style of play.
McMillan’s second year brings a revamped roster that includes graduate forward Mackenzie Mgbako, who will square off against his brother Ethan, a Vanderbilt guard, and the addition of Tennessee transfer Cade Phillips, who adds size and interior presence alongside Rashaun Agee.
The team also welcomes guard PJ Haggerty, a top‑three scorer from Kansas State, and sharpshooters Jalen Shelley of LMU and Tyshawn Archie from McNeese State, bolstering perimeter firepower.
Ranked opponents and tournament aspirations
Six of the 2026‑27 opponents were ranked in the final Associated Press top‑25, underscoring the conference’s depth and raising the stakes for each matchup.
Coaches and analysts alike note that the Aggies’ lack of size outside of Agee was a concern last year, but the new transfers aim to address that imbalance and give McMillan the depth needed for a sustained tournament push.
With the SEC’s elite squads competing for the conference title, Texas A&M’s schedule promises numerous marquee moments that could shape their NCAA seeding and future recruiting classes.
