A Season of Recognition
Texas A&M’s baseball program celebrated a wave of national acclaim as four of its standout players were named to the All‑America teams announced by the National College Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game. The honors reflect a season in which the Aggies combined dominant pitching with a potent offense, earning praise from both collegiate writers and the premier scouting service.
Caden Sorrell and Clayton Freshcorn earned first‑team selections, while Aiden Sims and Gavin Grahovac were placed on the second and third teams respectively. The acknowledgments underscore the depth of talent across the roster and signal the Aggies’ resurgence on the national stage.
Standout Performances
Sorrell’s versatility shone throughout the year, as he slashed .341/.434/.743 across 55 starts and led the team in both RBI and runs scored. His power surge, which included at least 20 home runs and 20 doubles, marked him as the first Aggie since 1999 to achieve that feat, and the NCBWA honored him as District VII Player of the Year.
Freshcorn proved equally impactful on the mound, posting a 2.82 ERA in 27 appearances with a 4‑3 record and 56 strikeouts. His 12 saves tied for third‑most in a single season at Texas A&M, reinforcing his reputation as one of the nation’s most reliable closers.
Sims anchored the Aggies’ rotation with an 8‑1 record in 13 starts, finishing the year with a 3.84 ERA, 73 strikeouts and a .213 opponent batting average. The right‑hander capped his season with a seven‑inning shutout against Vanderbilt, striking out eight batters and showcasing his poise under pressure.
Gravovac, a two‑time All‑American, posted a .339/.429/.722 slash line with 22 home runs, 16 doubles and three triples, while also scoring 76 runs — tops on the team and among the SEC leaders. His all‑around production helped the Aggies secure a top‑four finish in the conference and cemented his place among the program’s elite.
Program Milestones
The quartet of honorees adds to a storied legacy, with Grahovac becoming the 10th player in Texas A&M history to earn two‑time All‑American status. The recognitions also highlight the program’s ongoing partnership with the National College Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game, organizations that continue to spotlight the Aggies’ competitive spirit and academic excellence.
