Texas A&M’s men’s basketball program is set to embark on an overseas preseason tour, participating in the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League in the Bahamas from August 3 through 5.
A Strategic Preseason Expedition
The Aggies will play three exhibition games against a diverse slate of opponents, including the University of Victoria, the Colombian club Toros del Valle, and Carleton University, each matchup designed to test depth and adaptability before the regular season begins.
The tournament is part of an NCAA rule that permits every program to undertake a single foreign tour annually, and Texas A&M is one of only four teams selected for the 2026 edition of the Baha Mar Summer League.
Head coach Bucky McMillan, who led the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament in his inaugural season, guided the team to a fourth‑place finish in the SEC and a top‑15 national ranking in scoring offense, assists, three‑point shooting and bench production during the 2025‑26 campaign.
The roster blends returning veterans such as guard Zach Clemence with high‑profile newcomers, notably transfer‑portal standout PJ Haggerty, the nation’s third‑leading scorer, and Mackenzie Mgbako, a former McDonald’s All‑American and Big Ten co‑Freshman of the Year.
Beyond individual talent, the trip serves as a crucial laboratory for chemistry, allowing the coaching staff to experiment with lineups and foster cohesion in a competitive environment that mirrors regular‑season intensity.
Fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see how the experience translates into on‑court performance when the Aggies open the 2025‑26 season, hoping the international exposure yields a competitive edge at home.
