A Season of Transition
Texas A&M Aggies are gearing up for the 2026 college football season with ambitions of contending for a national championship, but the road ahead is lined with significant questions.
Quarterback Marcel Reed, now a redshirt junior, will be entrusted with the offense despite a track record of inconsistency that has raised doubts among analysts.
The Aggies must replace four starters on the offensive line, ushering in newcomers such as Wilkin Fornby and Tyree Adams, while also relying on wide receiver Mario Craver and running back Reuben Owens to shoulder the offensive load.
Defensively, the team will miss the pass‑rushing prowess of Cashius Howell, who topped the SEC in sacks last year, and the leadership of linebacker Taurean York, whose departure leaves a void in the front seven.
Coaching staff, including defensive coordinator Mike Elko, are expected to devise strategies to fill those gaps, while recruits like KC Concepcion, Trey Zuhn, Dametrius Crownover, Anto Saka, Marco Jones and Ray Coney add depth to the roster.
