A Commitment That Shifts the Landscape
Mark Matthews, the nation's No. 3 overall recruit and the top‑rated offensive tackle in the 2027 class, announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Wednesday, choosing the Aggies over Georgia, Miami and LSU. The decision was celebrated on social media as Matthews revealed a Texas A&M jersey and performed a brief dance before the camera.
The pledge comes as Texas A&M works to rebuild its offensive line, a unit that has been bolstered by several SEC transfers. In addition to Matthews, the Aggies have secured five five‑star prospects, positioning them as the No. 2‑ranked class nationally, behind only Oklahoma.
Coach Mike Elko highlighted the impact of the new commitments, noting that Brown and the duo of Dorsey and Snell give the Aggies two of the nation's top tackles and safeties. The class also includes standout players such as Tyree Adams, Coen Echols, Trovon Baugh, Wilkin Formby, Mark Nabou, Kennedy Brown, Kamarui Dorsey, JayQuan Snell and Zyron Forstall.
Matthews' choice underscores the Aggies' rising momentum in recruiting, a trend that reflects the program's strategic focus on line play and depth. With the new signings, Texas A&M aims to return to elite status in the SEC and contend for national championships in the coming years.
