The Abilene Reporter-News, in partnership with local coaches and the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, has unveiled a slate of 16 finalists for the Readers’ Choice All‑Big Country Baseball MVP. The honor reflects not only individual statistics but also the impact each player had on their team’s success.
Voting will be open from July 15 through July 28, giving the public a brief but decisive window to shape the award that celebrates the region’s top talent.
Among the finalists, several names stand out for their statistical dominance and clutch contributions. Carson Boone, a junior from Abilene Cooper, posted a 2.44 ERA and struck out 52 batters over 54⅓ innings, anchoring a pitching staff that consistently limited opponents.
Gavin Brooks, a senior from Tuscola Jim Ned, earned District 6‑3A Offensive MVP after delivering a batting average that placed him among the league’s most feared hitters.
