Head coach Jim Schlossnagle, who steered the team to the 2026 College World Series, has described the incoming class as a deliberate effort to fill gaps and deepen depth across the roster. Among the newcomers is sophomore infielder Linkin Garcia, who arrives from Texas Tech after a standout 2026 season in which he started 55 games, posted a .338 batting average and a .876 OPS, and drove in 59 runs. Catcher Ian Armstrong joins from Saint Mary’s, bringing with him a reputation earned through All‑West Coast Conference First Team honors and American Baseball Coaches Association All‑West Region Second Team recognition. In 2026 he hit .351 with 51 RBIs and 16 home runs, leading the Gaels in home runs, OPS and slugging percentage.
Outfield Additions
The Longhorns also welcome three outfield prospects: junior transfer Sawyer Solitaria from Kent State, sophomore Trevor Goldenetz from Long Beach State, and redshirt senior Payton Brennan from UCLA. Solitaria finished his sophomore season with a .294 average, 16 home runs and 47 RBIs, while Goldenetz posted a .369 average in 111 at‑bats as a freshman and contributed 12 RBIs. Brennan, a redshirt senior, closed his UCLA career with a .290/.382/.460 slash line, nine home runs and 51 RBIs across 58 games.
To round out the pitching staff, junior Gavin King transfers from Middle Tennessee State, where he appeared in 19 games and made three starts, posting a 3‑2 record, a 6.00 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 42 innings.
