Texas has landed a major boost to its defensive line with the verbal commitment of four‑star edge rusher Jabarrius Garror to the Longhorns' 2027 class. The 6‑foot‑2, 215‑pound prospect from Mobile, Alabama, arrives after a standout high school career that included 106 tackles and 21 sacks as a junior.
From Alabama Commitment to Texas Decision
Garror originally pledged to Alabama in the summer of 2024 but reopened his recruitment, weighing offers from Auburn, Georgia and Florida State before ultimately choosing Texas. His decision was announced at the ASWA Mr. Football Banquet in Montgomery, where he was also named Class 5A Lineman of the Year.
The commitment marks the third edge player in the Longhorns' 2027 recruiting haul, underscoring a defensive class that already features several highly rated linemen. With 30 total offers, including 13 from the SEC, Garror was one of the most coveted prospects on the market.
Coaches have praised his relentless motor and ability to disrupt opposing offenses, traits that fit the Longhorns' scheme. His addition is expected to deepen a front line that has been working to regain national prominence, and it could accelerate the program's push for a stronger defensive front in the coming seasons.
