The Texas Sportswriters Association has unveiled its 2026 all‑state baseball selections, honoring the top talent from Class 1A through 6A across the Lone Star State.
Among the honorees are several standout athletes from the Big Country region, where deep playoff runs and dominant performances have defined the high school season.
Shank’s Dual Threat Fuels Gordon’s Title Run
Gordon senior Aiden Shank earned a First Team All‑State nod after a season that blended pitching dominance with a potent bat. He finished 8‑2 on the mound with 105 strikeouts and a 0.54 ERA over 51⅔ innings, while batting .361 with 42 runs, 33 RBIs, 20 stolen bases and a triple.
His all‑state selection underscores Gordon’s second straight appearance in the Class 1A UIL Baseball State Championship game, a feat that has heightened excitement in the community.
Jordan’s Offensive Explosions
Stephenville junior Trot Jordan was also placed on the First Team after batting .426 for the season. He added 37 stolen bases, six home runs, five doubles and a .426 average, earning District 6‑4A Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Hamlin’s Senior Leaders Advance to State Semifinals
Hamlin’s senior duo of Hagan Holland and Derrick Lechuga received First Team All‑State recognition as the team reached the Class 1A state semifinals for the second consecutive year. Lechuga hit .450 with 31 RBIs, seven doubles, two home runs and two triples, while Holland provided power hitting and solid defense.
Their contributions helped the team maintain a strong lineup and competitive edge throughout a demanding schedule.
