Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine recently unveiled its all‑Texas college team, and the Red Raiders made a striking impression with twelve selections, the most of any state program.
Cameron Dickey earned the distinction of the state's top running back after a season that saw him carry the ball 209 times for 1,124 yards and fourteen touchdowns, while also catching twenty‑five passes for 224 yards and two scores.
Linebacker Ben Roberts was equally impressive, posting ninety tackles, four tackles for loss, five pass breakups, four interceptions and a fumble recovery, numbers that helped him claim the state's best linebacker honor.
A Deep Roster of Talent
The breadth of Texas Tech's representation extended across both sides of the ball, with four players earning first‑team offense honors: Dickey, J'Koby Williams, Terrance Carter Jr. and Howard Sampson. Jacob Ponton received second‑team recognition on offense, while the defense featured first‑team standouts Trey White, A.J. Holmes, Roberts and Brice Pollock.
Additional defensive contributors on the second team included Adam Trick, John Curry and Austin Romaine, rounding out a unit that accounted for a substantial portion of the state's top talent.
Beyond the all‑Texas team, the Red Raiders were the cover story of the annual Texas Football summer preview magazine, spotlighting coach Joey McGuire, general manager James Blanchard, Roberts, athletics director Kirby Hocutt and Board of Regents chairman Cody Campbell on its front page.
The program's momentum continued with seven players earning preseason all‑America honors in the Phil Steele preview, including Carter on the first team, Holmes and Pollock on the second, and Wilson and Harrington on the fourth.
Texas Tech's twelve honorees outpaced both the University of Texas and Texas A&M, underscoring the program's growing influence within the state and positioning the Red Raiders as a formidable force heading into the next season.
