Texas Tech Renames Football Stadium to Galaxy Stadium in $75 Million Deal

The 15‑year partnership with Galaxy brings AI infrastructure, NIL opportunities and a nod to longtime leader Clifford B. Jones

A New Era for Texas Tech Football

Texas Tech University has announced that its football stadium, formerly known as Jones AT&T Stadium, will be renamed Galaxy Stadium following a 15‑year naming rights agreement with Galaxy, a technology company specializing in data center infrastructure and digital assets.

The deal, valued at $75 million or roughly $5 million per year, replaces the previous AT&T partnership that expired in June after a 20‑year run. That earlier agreement had provided an upfront payment to the university, and the new arrangement builds on that foundation with additional financial and strategic components.

Kirby Hocutt, Texas Tech’s director of athletics, welcomed Galaxy as the new naming rights partner, emphasizing that the collaboration aligns with the university’s ambition to enhance the student‑athlete experience and expand its technological footprint.

Galaxy’s Expanding Footprint in West Texas

Beyond the stadium naming, Galaxy is constructing an AI‑driven data center in Dickens County, about 60 miles east of Lubbock. The facility will serve as the official data center and digital assets partner for Texas Tech Athletics, reinforcing the university’s commitment to cutting‑edge infrastructure.

The partnership also includes NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) opportunities for Red Raider athletes. Through brand activation campaigns and original content, Galaxy will provide athletes with new avenues to monetize their personal brands while promoting the company’s digital asset platform.

The university will continue to honor Clifford B. Jones, the third president of Texas Tech, in a manner that reflects his historic contributions, ensuring that the legacy of leadership remains intertwined with the institution’s modern initiatives.
