The Ballpark at League City will open its gates from March 12 through March 15 for the Texas Youth World Baseball Classic, a four‑day showcase that brings together more than 60 youth teams from across the United States and abroad. The event is designed for players and families, offering a full schedule of games across multiple divisions.
International Participation
Teams traveling from the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Puerto Rico are among the international contingents, adding a global flavor to the competition and giving local fans a chance to see different playing styles. Organizers say the presence of these foreign squads underscores the tournament’s growing reputation beyond Texas borders.
The tournament is expected to generate over $2.5 million in direct traveling spending for local businesses, including restaurants, hotels and retail shops. City officials say the economic boost is a timely infusion for the League City area, which has been eager to attract large‑scale sporting events.
Opening Ceremony and Guest Appearances
The opening ceremony on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. will feature a special appearance by former Houston Astros pitcher Larry Dierker. Dierker will throw the ceremonial first pitch and address the crowd, offering words of encouragement to the young athletes and their families.
Tickets are sold at the gate, priced at $15 per day for adults and $7.50 per day for children 12 and under. This pricing structure allows families to attend any or all of the scheduled games without needing advance online purchases.
The Ballpark itself features two full‑service restaurants, a rotating lineup of food trucks and more than 15 major sports‑related vendors. Attendees can also download the “Ballpark Hub at League City” app to view real‑time game times, matchups and player statistics throughout the event.
