A milestone in collegiate apparel
The Citadel Athletics announced a multi‑year partnership that will see Palmetto State Armory become the official jersey patch sponsor for the Bulldogs football program, beginning with the 2026 season. The agreement marks the first uniform patch sponsorship in the school's athletic history and underscores a new direction for collegiate apparel branding.
Under the deal, the Palmetto State Armory logo will appear on the left shoulder of every football uniform. This visual change will debut in the Bulldogs' season opener against Wofford on August 29, 2026, giving fans an early glimpse of the new look.
Art Chase, The Citadel Director of Athletics, highlighted the alignment between the university's values and those of Palmetto State Armory. "This partnership reflects our shared commitment to excellence, service, and the South Carolina community," Chase said in the announcement.
Cameron Tapler, Director of Branding for Palmetto State Armory, praised the university's tradition and its impact on the state. "We are proud to partner with an institution that embodies the same principles of dedication and community that we strive to uphold," Tapler added.
Cara Holloway, CEO of Peak Sports MGMT, emphasized the significance of the partnership for both parties. "The collaboration with The Citadel represents a pivotal moment in the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics and brand integration," she noted.
Under Armour remains the official apparel and footwear partner of The Citadel Athletics, providing the foundational uniform base on which the new patch will be applied. The partnership with Palmetto State Armory adds a distinct commercial layer that reflects the growing commercialization of college sports.
Logistical and assembly support for the new uniforms was provided by Shawn McCarthy and Intentional Merch & Marketing of North Charleston, S.C., ensuring a smooth rollout for the 2026 season.
