A Fiery Setback at Lime Rock
Thomas Annunziata, a NASCAR Truck Series driver, found himself in a dangerous situation during the Lime Rock Truck Series race when smoke began to pour from his No. 07 Toyota, signaling that the truck was engulfed in flames.
Despite qualifying fourth and running in the top five for much of the event, Annunziata’s truck suffered significant damage before the fire erupted, forcing him to climb out of the vehicle under his own power while safety crews rushed to extinguish the blaze.
The incident occurred at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut, a track where Annunziata had previously captured an ARCA Menards Series victory, adding a layer of irony to the chaotic finale.
Investigation and Aftermath
His team, Tricon Garage, has opened an investigation into the cause of the fire, speculating that alternator problems that have plagued other teams might have played a role.
Although the incident was a scare, Annunziata remains second in the ARCA Menards Series standings and, despite limited experience in NASCAR’s national series, continues to demonstrate strong pace and resilience.
He reassured fans via social media that he was okay, and the team is working to prevent similar incidents in future races.
