A League on the Rise
The Three Rivers League (TRL) cemented its reputation as Oregon’s premier high school football conference in 2025, delivering a season that saw three of the state’s eight quarterfinalists, two semifinalists and, ultimately, the championship trophy in the hands of Lake Oswego. The league’s teams combined for a 62% winning percentage, translating to an average of nearly seven victories per squad, the best mark among the six 6A leagues in the state.
Jamborees to kick off the 2026 campaign are scheduled for Thursday, August 27, with a handful of teams opening their season on Friday, August 28. The early slate will feature West Linn, the defending champion’s closest rival, as they bring back a wealth of experience and talent.
Key Returning Stars
West Linn senior quarterback Sloan Baker was crowned the 2025 Offensive Player of the Year, a testament to his dual-threat ability and leadership on the field. He returns to anchor an offense that boasts nine all‑league selections, the most in the TRL, while also contributing six standout players on defense.
On the other side of the ball, Lake Oswego’s senior defensive end Josh Christensen earned the 2025 Defensive Lineman of the Year award. Christensen will anchor a defense that, despite returning only three offensive all‑leaguers, still fields five recognized defenders, providing a strong front for the Lakers’ title defense.
Tualatin also shines with eight returning all‑leaguers, split between eight on offense and seven on defense, while Oregon City brings back three offensive and seven defensive all‑leaguers. Lakeridge and Tigard round out the league’s depth, each retaining multiple key contributors heading into the new season.
The TRL’s dominance is not isolated; the Mt. Hood Conference posted the second‑highest winning percentage at .545, but the Three Rivers League’s overall record remains unmatched. As the new jamboree week approaches, coaches and players alike are eager to see whether the league can maintain its momentum and add another chapter to its storied history.
