A trio of senior baseball standouts from the Midwest have been celebrated for their dual excellence on the field and in the classroom, earning Academic All-District honors that highlight both athletic prowess and scholarly achievement.
Academic All-District Honors
Dagen Brewer, Zach Voss, and Cooper Wesslund were recently selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, placing them among the conference’s top scholar-athletes and positioning them for further national recognition.
Brewer’s season was historic; he established a Division II record with 107 runs batted in, captured the league’s triple crown, and finished with a .442 batting average while launching 26 home runs.
Voss anchored the pitching rotation, tying the school’s single-season win record at 12-2 and concluding his career ranked second all-time with a 1.10 WHIP over 76.2 innings pitched.
Wesslund added another layer of distinction by being named the Most Outstanding Player at the MIAA Tournament and earning NCBWA National Hitter of the Week after a .727/.786/.1.636 performance across three games.
Path to All-American
The three players will now move onto the Academic All-American ballot, where their combined athletic feats and academic standing will be weighed against peers from across the nation.
Awards and Recognition
Their achievements also reflect the collaborative effort among the College Sports Communicators, D2CCA, NCBWA, ABCA, and MIAA, the organizations that jointly sponsor the district recognition program and help elevate student-athletes on a national stage.
As the ballot deadline approaches, the baseball community watches closely, eager to see how these standout students will be honored on the national stage and what further accolades may follow.
