The 2026 Illinois High School Association girls soccer state tournament reached its climax in Naperville, where three championship matches are set to determine the top teams across Classes 1A, 2A and 3A.
Father McGivney High School, representing the Metro East suburbs of St. Louis, captured its inaugural state title in Class 1A with a decisive 3‑0 victory over Pleasant Plains.
The Griffins opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Kinley Dettmers found the net, and Natalie Beck converted a penalty in the 25th minute before Mira Ahlvers sealed the result with a goal in the 61st minute.
The win marked the first time the school has stood atop the podium, having previously only appeared in the state tournament once before.
