The annual Thurston County Team Football Camp in Tumwater drew 32 high school programs from across Washington, with seven teams hailing from the county itself. The event served as an early‑season laboratory where coaches could evaluate young rosters and prospects before the first games of the year.
Rebuilding and New Faces
Capital Cougars entered the camp with a youthful lineup after losing 21 seniors, and their quarterback Nolan Potts returned from a broken leg to lead a revamped offense. Freshman free safety Landon Bartlett also made a noticeable impression in the secondary.
Olympia Bears brought a potent mix of experience and speed, anchored by quarterback Tucker Downing and running back Aden Carr, who dazzled with bursts of speed and scoring runs. The Bears' defense featured veterans Braden Barrett and Braydon Cook, while newcomer EJ Singleton added depth at linebacker.
River Ridge Hawks are aiming for a turnaround under new offensive coordinator Kendall Johnson, with quarterback Ryzen Nunez at the helm. The team also welcomed brothers Ayden Rookwood and Zay Rookwood, who bring versatility at wide receiver and cornerback.
Tenino Beavers showcased a stout defense led by linebacker Parker Minerich, whose key interception highlighted a communicative secondary. The Beavers also introduced fresh faces such as Darren Tinnerstet and Mason Metcalf in the backfield.
Timberline Blazers impressed with an upgraded defensive front, particularly defensive tackle Kataferu Galoia, whose speed and strength disrupted opposing playcallers. Running back Cooper Jones proved unstoppable in scrimmage drills, while rookie James Jones contributed on special teams.
Tumwater Thunderbirds, despite losing several key contributors, reloaded with a powerful rushing attack featuring Grady Wall, Tyler Briscoe and Jayden Hinchcliffe. Quarterback Jake Reid is set to take over from Jaxon Budd, and the team’s secondary includes promising talent like Alex Stewart.
Other notable performances came from players such as Nolen Rea, Hunter Liberty, Austin Stull, Charlie DeBord, Kameron Kronmeyer, Ozias Tinitali, Xavier Street, Tim Claridge, Adam Kulhawik, Darren Tinnerstet, Mason Metcalf, Evan Morey, Jeremiah McKague, Sawyer Noonan, Maurice Williams, William Garrow, Jacob Riedl, Peyton Davis, Vann Hannukaine, Blake Heryford, and many more, underscoring the depth of talent on display.
