Siena Women's Soccer head coach Steve Karbowski has confirmed the addition of Tiana Mainella to the 2026 roster, marking the eighth new face in the upcoming class and underscoring the program's strategic push to deepen midfield options.
Technical prowess and versatility define Mainella's playing style
The rising junior midfielder from Richmond Hill, Ontario, arrives as a technically gifted, attack‑minded player comfortable with both feet. Her decision‑making on the dribble and ability to dictate tempo have already drawn praise from coaching staff.
Mainella spent two seasons at Division II St. Leo, logging 382 minutes across 15 appearances and registering an assist before a mid‑season injury halted her campaign. Despite the limited playing time, her impact was noted for a strong work ethic and tactical awareness.
Prior to college, she captained Richmond Green Secondary School and honed her skills with Simcoe Rovers FC, where she contributed to multiple league titles and championship victories at the U15, U17 and U21 levels.
Canadian presence expands in the squad
Mainella joins three other Canadians — rising junior Anna Swyers, incoming freshman Rose Trudel of Québec and rookie Hayden Valentine from British Columbia — forming a contingent that underscores the program’s national reach.
Her club pedigree also includes three years each with Markham Soccer Club and North Toronto Soccer Club, providing a broad North American experience that complements her Canadian roots.
The Saints finished the previous season with a 9‑5‑6 record and a tie for fourth in the MAAC, returning six starters, among them three All‑MAAC selections. The infusion of Mainella is expected to bolster depth as the team prepares for another competitive campaign.
With the new academic year approaching, the roster blend of experienced returnees and fresh talent sets the stage for a promising push in the conference race.
