Tim Bezbatchenko has been appointed President of Global Soccer for Haslam Sports Group, a role that places him at the strategic center of the organization’s soccer ambitions.
In this capacity he will supervise the Columbus Crew, the soon‑to‑launch Columbus NWSL franchise for 2028, and a portfolio of future soccer investments that the group hopes will cement its presence across North America.
A Legacy of Leadership
Bezbatchenko arrives after a distinguished tenure as President of Black Knight Football Club, where he guided the team to three MLS Cups, an MLS Supporters Shield and three Canadian Championships, while also accumulating more than a decade of global leadership experience.
His appointment was highlighted by Dee and Jimmy Haslam, who praised his proven track record and commitment to the group’s vision of competing for trophies and uniting communities through the sport.
He will report directly to the Haslam brothers and work alongside Mary Shepro, a key executive in the organization’s soccer operations.
Looking Ahead
Bezbatchenko expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the chance to launch an NWSL team aligns with his long‑term goals for the women’s game.
He also took the occasion to thank Bill Foley, Ryan Caswell and other mentors from his time at Black Knight Football Club and AFC Bournemouth, whose European insights he plans to bring to the NWSL and MLS platforms.
