Tim Ford has been appointed head coach of the Canton High School boys hockey team, stepping into the role vacated by longtime mentor Brian Shuman.
A Legacy to Uphold
Shuman retired after 21 seasons that produced 371 victories, five state championships and 19 Hockomock League titles, leaving a storied foundation for the program.
Building on Familiar Ground
Ford, a Canton native who skated for the Bulldogs in 2009 and served as an assistant coach since 2014, brings both playing experience and deep institutional knowledge to the bench.
He will continue to work for the Canton Parks and Recreation Department while living in town with his wife and two sons, a routine that underscores his commitment to the community.
A Vision for the Future
Ford says he is eager to lead the next generation of Bulldogs, honoring the program’s proud history while fostering development of student‑athletes on and off the ice.
Canton High School Athletic Director Danny Erickson praised Ford’s passion and dedication, noting that his appointment aligns with the school’s values.
The transition comes as the team looks to build on recent successes, including a shared 2020 state championship with Lincoln‑Sudbury that was ultimately decided by the pandemic’s impact on the season.
