Tim Mead, the longtime mentor of Walsh University's baseball program, will be honored this January as he joins the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Hall of Fame Induction
The ceremony, scheduled for Jan. 8 in Chicago, will place Mead among seven coaches selected for the prestigious hall, a testament to his enduring impact on the sport.
Over a 44‑year tenure, Mead amassed 983 victories, positioning him as the Cavaliers' all‑time winningest coach and one of the most successful mentors in college baseball history.
A Legacy of Leadership
Mead's teams captured the NAIA World Series title in 2007 and guided Walsh to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2022, moments that highlighted his ability to compete at the highest levels of the game.
Reflecting on his career, Mead expressed deep gratitude for the support he received from his family, the university community, and the broader baseball fraternity, noting that the journey has been as rewarding as the wins themselves.
Beyond the field, Mead continues to shape the sport as a member of the ABCA board of directors and as chair of the Hall of Fame committee, roles he previously held as president of the ABCA and president of the NAIA Coaches Association.
His contributions were recognized with the Robert E. Smith Achievement Award in 2017, and he now joins more than 350 distinguished individuals enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
