More than a hundred prospects converged on the gymnasium at Tippecanoe High School for a three‑day youth basketball camp that blended skill development with competitive play. The sessions were split into morning classes for grades three through five and afternoon workshops for grades six through eight, giving younger participants a solid foundation while older campers tackled more advanced drills.
Coach Brock Moon, who has guided the program for several successful seasons, stressed the importance of introducing kids to basketball in a supportive environment. "Our goal is to teach the fundamentals and the team's system while fostering a genuine love for the game," Moon said, highlighting how the camps serve as a bridge between community outreach and the upcoming competitive calendar.
A Summer Packed with Scrimmages and Shootouts
As the camps wrapped up, the varsity squad turned its attention to a rigorous summer schedule. Highlights include a home scrimmage against Dunbar and Celina on June 26 at 7 p.m., a road test at Troy Christian on June 18 at 6 p.m., and participation in shootouts at Fairfield, Hamilton, and Wapakoneta. The team will also travel to Kentucky for a live‑weekend event, adding a regional dimension to its preparation.
With a roster that features several new faces, Moon remains optimistic about the team's potential. He pointed to the enthusiasm displayed by campers as a barometer for future performance, noting that the blend of experienced returnees and fresh talent could give the program a competitive edge when the new season arrives.
