Alexandria City High School’s football team opened its season with a 21‑7 victory over the Lake Braddock Bruins on Friday night, delivering a performance that will be remembered for its dramatic turnaround.
A Comeback for the Ages
The Titans found themselves down 7‑0 at the half, but a pair of third‑quarter touchdowns flipped the momentum. In the fourth quarter, a crucial fumble recovery sealed the win, sending the crowd into celebration.
The triumph was not without its complications. Shortly after the final whistle, minor altercations erupted outside Alexandria City High School and spilled into the nearby Bradlee Shopping Center. Alexandria Police Department officers, together with Alexandria City Public Schools administrators, moved quickly to disperse the gathering, ensuring that no injuries or arrests occurred.
Looking ahead, the Titans are scheduled to travel to Dumfries next Thursday, September 3, where they will meet Potomac Senior High School at 7 p.m. The team hopes to carry the momentum from Friday’s rally into a strong start to the season.
