Veteran forward Tobias Harris has agreed to a two-year, $31 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs, a move that secures the 33-year-old’s services for the upcoming NBA season.
Harris will begin his sixteenth year in the league and will wear his sixth different jersey, having previously suited up for the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks.
The former Tennessee standout entered the NBA after a single college season in which he averaged 15.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and shot 46 percent from the floor, a performance that earned him the 19th overall pick in the 2011 draft.
A Journey Across the League
After the Charlotte Bobcats selected him, his rights were dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks, and he later contributed to the Pistons’ run that saw them fall in the second round to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Beyond his club career, Harris was part of a Tennessee team that exited the NCAA tournament in the second round at the hands of Michigan, a game that highlighted his early promise.
Now joining a Spurs squad looking to rebuild, Harris brings a blend of scoring, rebounding and veteran poise that could accelerate the franchise’s return to contention.
