Roster reshaped for a new era
As the University of Toledo’s men’s basketball program gears up for the 2026‑27 season, head coach Tod Kowalczyk is optimistic about the blend of experience and fresh talent on the roster.
Six veterans are set to return, including Jaylan Ouwinga, who has spent two seasons with the program, Austin Parks, the former starter who improved game by game, and Mynor Strong, who became a key contributor late in the year. Will James Jr., a freshman last season, showed promising development and is expected to take a larger role.
The team also welcomes three veteran transfers: Angel Montas Jr., who averaged 22.9 points over his final nine appearances, Rich Barron, a Big East All‑Freshman Team selection capable of playing multiple positions, and Sean Jones, who will start at point guard and is described as having complete ownership of the program’s tempo.
Four newcomers will join the squad, among them Rashaun Porter, who coaches expect to make an immediate impact and add depth to the backcourt.
Assistant coach Sonny Wilson and video coordinator Chris Riddle round out the staff, providing additional support as the Rockets aim to translate their strengthened roster into on‑court success.
