Toledo’s women’s soccer squad moved to 6‑0 on the season with a 1‑0 triumph over Detroit Mercy at Titan Field on Thursday night.
A Late‑Game Hero
Ella Zoerhoff struck in the second minute of stoppage time, her second consecutive goal and the first in her career to come in back‑to‑back appearances. The shot, taken from outside the penalty area, curled past the Detroit keeper and sealed the win.
The Rockets outshot the Titans 23‑5, including a 10‑3 edge in the second half, and generated six shots on target while earning a 5‑2 corner kick advantage.
Defensive Mastery
Toledo recorded its first clean sheet on the road since October 17, 2024, at Ohio, limiting Detroit Mercy to just five shots and preserving a shutout that Coach Mark Batman praised as a collective effort.
Goalkeeper Kiera Billis made key saves, and the back line held firm despite a flurry of attacks, allowing the offense to capitalize on its dominance.
Looking Ahead
The Rockets will open their 2026 home schedule against Mercyhurst on August 23, a match that will also serve as a senior night tribute to five graduating players. The game will be streamed on BCSN and ESPN+ at 1 p.m.
With the victory, Toledo improves to 9‑2 in the last 11 meetings against Detroit Mercy and continues its climb in the conference standings.
