A Celebration of Baseball Excellence
Tom Elliott, a fixture of Central Minnesota sports journalism for nearly five decades, has been selected for induction into the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.
His career spans stints at the St. Cloud Times, the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, and the West Central Tribune, where he currently serves as sports editor.
The induction ceremony will take place on September 19 at the Rivers Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud, where Elliott will be presented with the Glenn Carlson Distinguished Service Award, given to individuals who have brought outstanding positive recognition to Minnesota amateur baseball.
He will be joined by seven other honorees, including Dale Mackedanz, Butch Steen, Gary Schleper, Allen Drexler, Greg Odegaard, Tim Beier and Elroy Vidlund.
St. Cloud Sports, Inc., the organization behind the Hall of Fame since its establishment in 1963, created the museum in 1992 at the convention center, preserving the region’s baseball heritage.
Tickets must be reserved by September 1, and no tickets will be sold on the day of the induction. Dick Jonckowski, former University of Minnesota men's basketball public address announcer, will serve as master of ceremonies.
