Herman’s five‑year stint in Austin ended with a 32‑18 record, four bowl victories and a reputation for cultivating elite NFL talent, having mentored players such as Bijan Robinson, Joseph Ossai, Keondre Coburn, Alfred Collins and Jahdae Barron.
After leaving Texas, Herman spent time at Florida Atlantic, served as an assistant with the Chicago Bears and contributed analysis for CBS Sports Network, experiences that sharpened his adaptability and strategic outlook.
A Strategic Shift for the Seminoles
Florida State, under head coach Mike Norvell, posted back‑to‑back losing seasons, prompting the administration to seek a turnaround catalyst; Herman’s arrival is framed as a strategic move to restore competitiveness.
