A New Era for BHS Baseball
Tony Aragon, a 1992 graduate of Belen High School, brings more than two decades of experience in athletics to the role of head coach for the BHS Eagles baseball program. His career has been shaped by mentorship under legendary coaches such as Joe, Tom, and Al Wisneski in baseball, as well as John Lerma, Greg Henington, and Ty House in football, giving him a deep well of knowledge to pass on to his players.
Aragon’s appointment follows the departure of Justin Miller, who accepted a similar position at Organ Mountain High School in Las Cruces. In his new capacity, Aragon also serves as the defensive coordinator for head coach Kevin Peña, a role that has kept him closely involved with the team’s day‑to‑day operations.
Building Culture and Community
The coach’s primary goal is to rebuild the program’s culture, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. He plans to strengthen ties with Belen Little League, creating a clearer pathway for young talent to progress through the feeder system and contribute to the varsity squad.
The 2025 season ended with a 15‑12 record, falling in the opening round of the 4A playoffs. Aragon believes that the existing roster, bolstered by experienced senior players, is well positioned to capitalize on that momentum and push deeper into the postseason.
