Mikahi Allen, a 2027 linebacker prospect from Ramsey, New Jersey, announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Wednesday, selecting the Aggies over longtime suitors Texas and South Carolina. The pledge comes after a standout junior season in which Allen recorded 58 tackles and several interceptions while playing safety for Don Bosco Prep. He also earned national attention by competing in the 2026 Under Armour All‑America Game and by participating in the 100‑meter dash, 200‑meter dash and long jump at the state track meet.

Andrew Ivins of 247Sports praised Allen’s versatility, noting that he can line up at multiple defensive positions. His addition pushes Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class to the No. 1 spot nationally, a ranking that already includes six five‑star prospects and 17 blue‑chip athletes among its 26 commitments. The class features other notable signees such as Aston Whiteside and five‑star recruit Kaden Henderson, while linebacker commitments now total three.
Jackson Ross, a No. 56 linebacker, chose South Carolina on June 28, making the Gamecocks the only finalist among Allen’s finalists to secure a linebacker pledge. Analysts say it is increasingly unlikely that both Texas and South Carolina will land another blue‑chip linebacker before the cycle ends. Four‑star prospect Brayton Feister remains the sole uncommitted blue‑chip linebacker, currently leaning toward Oregon, while Texas saw top‑three linebacker commits in the past two cycles, including Elijah Barnes, who recently transferred to Kentucky. Cade Haug, ranked No. 44 at the position, is considered the most likely Texas target to flip.
