Jamarcus Johnson, a four‑star defensive lineman from Georgia, is already making waves in the 2028 recruiting cycle after earning a scholarship from Florida State.
His recent game visit to Tallahassee in September gave him a firsthand look at the Seminoles’ program, a trip that followed a standout sophomore season in which he recorded 49 tackles, 13 for loss, three quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
The Upcoming Showdown
Johnson has mapped out seven game visits for the coming months, with a highly anticipated return to Florida State scheduled for October 17 when the Seminoles host the Miami Hurricanes. The matchup promises to be a litmus test for both the player and the program.
Ranked No. 42 nationally and No. 5 among defensive linemen by 247Sports, Johnson also holds the state’s No. 7 prospect status. He currently carries 15 offers but has narrowed his focus to eight programs — Florida State, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Miami, LSU, Georgia and Alabama — each of which he plans to evaluate through the upcoming slate of visits.
The recruitment strategy reflects a deliberate effort to compare the nation’s elite conferences, and the upcoming October visit could prove pivotal in shaping his final decision.
