The Lafayette region is gearing up for another competitive boys soccer season, and the buzz centers on a cohort of 28 returning players who made a mark in 2025. Their performances have not only secured conference honors but also earned state‑level recognition, setting the stage for a fresh wave of talent across the area's high schools.
Offensive Standouts
Nery Pacheco of McCutcheon emerged as the most prolific scorer, finishing tenth in the Indiana state rankings with 35 goals and six assists. He also became the program’s all‑time goal‑scoring leader and earned first‑team all‑state honors in 2025. Adan Robles from Harrison contributed 19 goals and five assists, helping the Raiders to an 18‑2‑3 record. Keivin Mayorga of Twin Lakes added 15 goals and four assists during his junior campaign, while senior forward Ricky Ruiz tallied four goals and six assists and secured a spot on the Sagamore Athletic Conference first team. Christian Carlson anchored the Faith Christian defense with two goals and six shots on goal, and Chase Mooneyhan finished with 13 goals and four assists for the Eagles. Jesse Cardoza, a senior from North White, led the Vikings offense with 16 goals, and Dario Huesca, a junior from Crawfordsville, scored a team‑high 13 goals. Franklin Godoy, a senior from Lafayette Jefferson, added seven goals and two assists, and Sergio Aragon, also from North White, was the second‑highest scorer for the Vikings with nine goals and two assists.
Goalkeeping Excellence
Between the posts, a group of senior goalkeepers proved equally decisive. Alex Casas of West Lafayette backstopped the team to an IHSAA Class 2A sectional title with 52 saves, while Brayan Jimenez of North White logged 115 stops en route to a 10‑4‑1 record. Marshall Crowell of Harrison took over mid‑season and made 39 saves, including two penalty‑kick saves in the regional round. Nolan Winkler of Benton Central posted 58 saves and 13 wins, including eight shutouts, and Ethan Johnson of Carroll added 64 saves with seven shutout victories. Austin Rubio of Twin Lakes rounded out the group with a staggering 142 saves for the season. Also notable were Sebastian Aguilar Espinoza of Frankfort, who made 81 saves and posted a 10‑6 record with six shutouts, and Noe Torres of Crawfordsville, who recorded 84 saves and two shutouts during his sophomore season. Asher Glister of McCutcheon logged 62 saves and finished 9‑3‑1.
Midfield creativity and defensive solidity were also prominent. Gaspar Hernandez, a junior from West Lafayette, contributed eight goals and four assists, while Aiden Zimmerman, a sophomore from Benton Central, recorded nine goals and 12 assists in his freshman year. Caleb Yu helped the West Lafayette defense keep five shutouts and win four of their final five games, and Joseph Galarza, a sophomore from Central Catholic, added eight goals and five assists. Rowan Heim of Benton Central chipped in eight goals and six assists, and Corbin Turner of Carroll tied for the team high with 11 goals and five assists. Sam Woolwine of North Montgomery contributed eight goals and 15 assists, rounding out a balanced attack.
With such a blend of proven scorers, reliable net‑minders, and versatile midfielders, the Lafayette area teams are poised to contend strongly in the upcoming season. Many of these players have already attracted attention from college scouts, and their continued development could reshape the regional soccer landscape.
