Asa Montgomery, a 6‑foot‑7 forward from Powder Springs, Georgia, is set to step onto the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill on September 25, marking the latest stop on a whirlwind fall recruitment tour.
A Promising Prospect
Michael Malone, UNC’s head coach, extended a scholarship to Montgomery after closely scouting his performances with Team AOT and the USA Basketball Junior National Team, impressed by his all‑court impact.
Ranked No. 16 in the 2027 class by Rivals, Montgomery dominated the EYCL this season, averaging 24.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks, and helped Team USA capture gold at the U17 World Cup.
The visit is part of eight official trips he plans this fall, which also include stops at LSU, Florida, UConn, Providence, Duke, Arizona and Louisville, as he looks for a family‑oriented environment and a coach who can maximize his development and positioning on the floor.
