Davis Cochran, a 6‑foot‑9 power forward from Brentwood, Tennessee, has emerged as one of the most coveted prospects in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he sits at No. 154 nationally and is the No. 24 power forward in the country, while also ranking as the third‑best prospect in Tennessee.
Top Eight Selections
Cochran’s list of finalists includes eight programs: Clemson, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Virginia and Vanderbilt. Each of those schools has extended a scholarship offer, underscoring the breadth of his interest.
The recruit has already taken official and unofficial visits to several of those campuses, including Cincinnati, Vanderbilt and Kansas State, and he is slated to make an official visit to Knoxville on September 26 alongside five‑star wing Malachi Jordan.
High School Highlights
At Brentwood High School, Cochran helped the Bruins compile a 30‑4 record and secure a berth in the state tournament, showcasing his ability to dominate both ends of the floor.
Coach Casey Alexander and longtime recruiter Rick Barnes have been among the prominent figures following his development, while analyst Joe Tipton has noted the strategic fit for Tennessee’s upcoming roster.
With four seniors set to graduate and potential departures via the NBA draft or the transfer portal, the Volunteers have at least four scholarship slots to allocate. Cochran’s eventual commitment could reshape the team’s front‑court depth for the next season.
