TopDrawerSoccer has released its preseason accolades for the upcoming NCAA Division I men’s soccer season, spotlighting the High Point Panthers’ standout performers and their upcoming season opener.
Preseason Honors
Senior forward Daniel Lugo earned the nation’s second‑overall ranking in the TDS Men’s National Top 100 Players and secured a spot on the Preseason Best XI First Team.
Lugo’s 2025 campaign saw him net 14 goals and add five assists, totaling 33 points and leading the Panthers in conference play, while his performances also earned him the 2025‑26 Big South Conference Male Athlete of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Defender Roman Holt, ranked No. 37 nationally, anchored a backline that recorded ten shutouts last year and was recognized on the TDS Preseason Best XI Freshman Team as part of the Big South All‑Freshman Team.
Freshman defender Kieran Smith also received preseason notice, being named to the TDS Freshman Best XI for his early contributions.
The Panthers open their season on August 20, 2026, hosting Long Island University, a matchup that will test the depth of a squad bolstered by multiple national recognitions.
