Tori Williams appointed chief of staff for Utah State women’s basketball

The former player and coach brings a blend of on‑court experience and administrative acumen to Logan

Utah State University has named Tori Williams its new chief of staff for the women's basketball program, entrusting the alumna with overseeing operations, recruiting and strategic initiatives under head coach Wesley Brooks.

Williams arrives after a multifaceted career that blends on‑court playing experience with front‑office responsibilities. As a graduate assistant at VCU during the 2021‑22 season she managed logistics for the women's basketball team, and before that she served as director of on‑campus recruiting for East Carolina football, coordinating prospect visits and travel itineraries.

Her coaching résumé includes a tenure as head coach of the 15U New Jersey Gems in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), where she designed offensive and defensive schemes, organized workouts and led fundraising and travel efforts for the club.

Prior to coaching, Williams worked as an executive recruiting coordinator for Parker Executive, arranging travel and interview logistics for candidates in education, sports and health‑science fields.

A career forged in competition

Williams' playing days at Utah and Colorado State laid the foundation for her basketball IQ. She earned Pac‑12 All‑Freshman honors in 2017‑18 and, at Colorado State, averaged 10.2 points, 3.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from three‑point range, a mark that placed her second in the Mountain West Conference in 2020‑21.

A standout at Centennial High School in Boise, Idaho, she was crowned the 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year and earned a McDonald's All‑American nod before committing to college.

She graduated from Colorado State in 2021 with a degree in communications and completed a master's in sports leadership and management at VCU in 2022, credentials that underscore her blend of academic rigor and practical expertise.

A new era for Utah State women's basketball

Head coach Wesley Brooks praised the appointment, saying Williams' comprehensive background will strengthen the program's operational foundation and deepen recruiting pipelines. "Tori brings a rare combination of competitive fire and strategic insight," Brooks said. "Her vision aligns perfectly with our ambition to compete at the highest level in the Mountain West and beyond."

The university's athletic director echoed the sentiment, highlighting the strategic advantage of tapping an alumna who understands the institution's culture while bringing fresh perspectives from the professional and collegiate ranks.

Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how Williams will translate her diverse experience into tangible gains for the Aggies, from sharpening scouting reports to streamlining travel logistics and enhancing community outreach.
