The University of Illinois announced this week that Tory Teykl has been named Executive Director of Football Operations and Logistics for the Fighting Illini football program. The appointment marks the culmination of a 17‑year trajectory in collegiate athletics administration, during which she has overseen critical aspects of program management, team travel and student‑athlete housing at the highest levels of college football.
A career built on operational excellence
Teykl’s professional journey began in marketing before she transitioned to football operations at the University of Houston, where she contributed to a 13‑1 season and a Peach Bowl victory in 2015. Her subsequent roles at Texas, Kansas and Temple expanded her portfolio to include program coordination, travel logistics and player development, earning her recognition with the Texas Athletics Teamwork Award and graduation from the Texas CATAPLT program in 2019.
From Texas to Houston and beyond
During her tenure at Texas from 2017 to 2019, Teykl helped the Longhorns secure 25 wins and contributed to victories in the Alamo Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Texas Bowl. At Temple, she served as Director of Football Operations from 2022 to 2024, guiding the program through a period of growth and stability. Prior to that, she held the dual roles of Assistant Athletics Director for Football Operations and Director of Player Development at Kansas from 2020 to 2021, where she refined strategies that enhanced team cohesion and operational efficiency.
Teykl’s academic foundation includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Texas A&M University (2007) and a master’s degree in sport management (2009). This blend of business acumen and sport‑specific training equips her to navigate the complex financial and logistical demands of modern college football programs.
