TQL Stadium to Host First Football Game in Historic Rivalry

Centennial matchup highlights award‑winning venue’s debut on September 19

A Milestone at TQL Stadium

On September 19, TQL Stadium in Cincinnati will stage the first football game in its history, pitting the University of Cincinnati against Miami University in a clash that dates back more than a century.

The rivalry, first contested in 1888, is among the oldest in college football, and Cincinnati currently holds a narrow edge with a 61‑60‑7 record. The Bearcats secured the most recent victory, a 27‑16 win in Oxford, Ohio, during the 2024 season.

TQL Stadium, home to FC Cincinnati, was designed by the internationally acclaimed architecture firm Populous. Its 360‑degree canopy roof shelters a natural‑grass field, while the venue has earned the Best Venue award at the 2022 World Football Summit and the 2022 Prix Versailles World Title in the Sports Category.

The stadium’s premium amenities include 53 traditional suites and 4,500 premium seats, and its supporters’ section, known as The Bailey, boasts over 3,100 members. Tickets for the historic match will be released to season ticket holders and students later this summer.

Jeff Berding, President & Co‑CEO of FC Cincinnati, expressed enthusiasm about the event, noting that the stadium’s award‑winning design and vibrant atmosphere make it the perfect stage for a milestone game.

Beyond the upcoming contest, TQL Stadium stands as one of the most ambitious soccer‑specific venues in North America, reflecting Cincinnati’s growing sports culture and commitment to innovative architecture.
