A Community Mourns
On Saturday night, a devastating crash on County Road 210 near Highway 60 in Texas claimed the lives of Jeremy Jenkins, the athletic director and head football coach at East Bernard High School, and his wife Brandy Jenkins, a beloved teacher at East Bernard Junior High School. The couple was returning from a community event when their vehicle was struck, leaving the small town in shock.
Jeremy Jenkins had spent years shaping the lives of young athletes, guiding the football program with passion and dedication. Brandy Jenkins, meanwhile, taught junior high students and was known for her unwavering support of her husband’s career, often traveling across Texas to attend games and practices. Their combined commitment to education and community service made them pillars of the local school district.
Greg Jenkins, Jeremy’s brother, described Brandy as a "true hero" who followed Jeremy’s career with pride, while nephew Hayden Jenkins expressed profound grief, calling the couple two of his favorite people. Tributes poured in from colleagues, students, and neighbors, each recalling the couple’s kindness, mentorship, and the lasting impact they had on the community.
Support from East Bernard ISD
In response to the tragedy, East Bernard ISD announced a comprehensive support plan for students and staff. Counselors and mental‑health professionals will be made available on campus, and additional resources will be allocated to help the school community navigate the loss. The district emphasized that the Jenkins’ legacy of dedication will continue to inspire future generations of learners and athletes.
