A 20‑year‑old basketball standout at State University of New York at Potsdam was killed early Saturday morning in a hit‑and‑run that left the campus reeling. The crash occurred on a quiet street near the intersection of Market Street and Main Avenue, where an older‑model black Cadillac Escalade struck Emily Mae Smith and fled the scene.
Emily Mae Smith, a transfer student and business administration major, had quickly become a cornerstone of the women's basketball program.
