Deontavis Jamario Cooper, a 2026 graduate of Thomas County Central High School in Georgia, emerged as one of the state’s most celebrated football prospects, drawing attention for his skill and leadership on the field.
A Promising Career Cut Short
Earlier this week, Cooper was a passenger in a sedan traveling through Leon County, Florida, when the vehicle was involved in a collision. The impact ejected Cooper from the car, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other occupants of the sedan were transported to nearby hospitals in critical condition, where they remain under intensive medical care as authorities investigate the cause of the crash.
