A 23‑year‑old college baseball player, Glen Pysher, was shot and killed by police in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, early Saturday morning.
Pysher, a graduate of Upper Pottsgrove High School who had previously starred at Francis Marion University and Northampton Community College, was slated to begin his final season at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey.
According to friends, the night began at a local bar where a birthday celebration was underway. As the party moved to a nearby house, Pysher mistakenly knocked on the wrong door, a misstep that would prove fatal.
Police responded to a call about an attempted break‑in at the Snyder Road address around 12:29 a.m., and officers opened fire, striking Pysher multiple times. The Montgomery County Detectives Bureau has taken charge of the investigation.

The news spread quickly through the baseball community, prompting a GoFundMe campaign that has already raised more than $16,000 from over 300 donors. Family members, including his brother Anthony Napoli and sister Erin Pysher, described the young athlete as a scholar, a teammate and a beloved family figure.
Saint Elizabeth University’s baseball program released a statement mourning the loss of a promising talent, while teammates and coaches recalled his dedication on the field and his upbeat spirit off it.
Vigils have been held in Upper Pottsgrove and online, where friends share memories of Pysher’s competitive drive and his habit of mentoring younger players. The incident has also reignited discussions about police protocols in ambiguous situations.
